  Gujarat  Gram Panchayat Election 2025 The Gujarat State Election Commission has officially announced the Gram Panchayat elections for 8,326 villages across the state. The elections are being held after a delay of over two and a half years.

Addressing a press conference in Gandhinagar, State Election Commissioner Dr S Murali Krishna unveiled the complete election schedule. The formal notification will be issued on June 2, 2025, with the last date for filing nominations set for June 9. Gram Panchayat elections are not contested using political party symbols. Instead of EVMs, ballot papers will be used for voting. This will be the first Gram Panchayat election after the implementation of 27% OBC reservation. The State Election Commission has announced elections for a total of 8326 Gram Panchayats, which includes:

A Press Note Will Be Published On June 2 Regarding The Gram Panchayat Elections. The Filing Of Nomination Papers Will Start As Soon As The Official Notification Is Published. As Per The Current Update, The Last Day For Filing Nomination Papers Will Be On 09/06/2025, While 11/06/2025 Will Be The Last Day For Withdrawal Of Candidature. 5115 Sarpanch seats to be contested

44,850 wards involved in the elections

16,500 polling stations will be set up

28,300 ballot boxes will be used

Over 1.30 crore voters are expected to cast their votes

Eligibility to Vote:

• Must be a resident of the village where the election is held.
• Age: 18 years or above as of the specified cut-off date.
• Must have a valid voter ID card registered with the Election Commission.

Nomination Phase

Campaigning
